Clique, Conspiracy, & Consortium: What the Cop Murder Case Revealed
Topic
- National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo has officially dissolved the Red-White Special Task Force (Satgasus Merah-Putih). The activity of the task force was suspected because it was led by Insp. Gen. Ferdy Sambo, who is currently a suspect in the murder of his aide, Police Brigadier Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat.
- The officers in the special task force are reportedly also members of a certain "clique." This is an informal network of officers who have usually served in the same unit or come from the same province to support each other in their duties and careers, usually having the patronage of an active senior high-ranking officer or retired high-ranking officer who still holds a high position in government.
- Another secret organization whose name is also heard in the Yosua murder case is the "Consortium." Rumor has it that this is an informal network of kingpins of the underworld formed in 2006. When National Police Chief Gen. Sutanto launched massive crackdowns on gambling activities throughout Indonesia, the kingpins were forced to create an informal network to carry out mitigation efforts. The forerunner of the "Consortium" was born.
