Quest for Energy: Indonesia Seeks Alternative Oil and Gas Suppliers

The Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry is exploring opportunities to import crude oil outside the Middle East. According to Tutuka Ariadji, the Director General of Oil and Gas at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, this move comes as tensions escalate in the Middle East between Iran and Israel, potentially disrupting oil supply shipments.
Tutuka stated that PT Pertamina (Persero) has already secured long-term supply reliability guarantees for crude oil through contracts with numerous sellers. However, he emphasized that the Indonesian government is open to seeking crude oil sources from other regions if conflicts in the Middle East continue to escalate. "There are plenty of alternatives, and we are identifying which ones are most suitable," he said on Tuesday, Apr. 16.
