After meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, President-elect Prabowo Subianto embarked on a visit to Japan. During his stay, Prabowo held discussions with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Wednesday, Apr. 3, focusing on bolstering security and economic ties. In Tokyo, Prabowo emphasized enhancing collaboration between the two nations. "'The two countries have established good relations so far, and we ask the Japanese government to collaborate to achieve stronger relations in the future and strengthen collaboration in the defense sector," he stated.
Responding to Prabowo's remarks, Prime Minister Kishida underscored Japan's keen interest in cooperating with Indonesia to strengthen international norms. Kishida also highlighted Japan's commitment, mentioning its plan in 2023 to supply patrol boats to Indonesia and its desire to expand security cooperation. The Japanese Embassy in Jakarta echoed the sentiment, stating that Prabowo's visit presents an opportune moment to fortify bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
