Newcomer BBN Airlines to Battle Major Carriers on Popular Routes

BlueBird Nordic (BBN) Airlines Indonesia is set to expand its operations from cargo and charter flights to scheduled flights. Martynas Grigas, Chairman of BBN Airlines Indonesia, said the airline aims to operate 40 aircraft by the end of 2027. Grigas is optimistic that this move will strengthen Indonesia's domestic and international aviation sectors.
In 2024, BBN Airlines Indonesia added three Boeing 737-800 aircraft and one Boeing 737-400F to its fleet. Grigas stated that adding these aircraft is a strategic move for BBN Airlines Indonesia to enhance its charter flight services in Indonesia. He mentioned that the company acquired these four aircraft in November 2023. The four aircraft are undergoing maintenance checks and are scheduled to commence charter flights in early March 2024. "With the addition of these four aircraft, BBN Airlines can increase its load factor and open new routes," Grigas said on Mar. 25.
