The Indonesian government is set to embark on a series of development projects in the Thousand Islands. Heru Budi Hartono, Acting Governor of Jakarta, has revealed plans to utilize the land in the Thousand Islands as a food estate by 2025. According to Heru, this decision stems from studies conducted by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the National Development Planning Agency. "Based on the studies, the Thousand Islands are rich in potential for fish, seaweed, and more, making it suitable for a food estate by 2025," he stated on Mar. 20.
Sandiaga Uno, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister, has outlined an investment plan worth Rp 188 trillion in the Thousand Islands. He met with Salim Haykal, Chief Executive Officer of PT Seribu Pesona Indonesia, and Ali Hadji, Executive Senior Investment and Portfolio Manager of JTA International Holding, to discuss the national strategic project (PSN) investment plans of PT Seribu Pesona Indonesia, with potential investors from JTA International Holding Qatar.
