Elected President Prabowo & Eight Priority Programs Promised to Begin
Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka secured 96,303,691 votes or 58.6 percent of the vote share in the 2024 Presidential Election, clinching victory in 36 out of 38 provinces and overseas. The outcome of the presidential election is still subject to the Constitutional Court's (MK) decision, but given the slim likelihood of Prabowo's victory being overturned considering the significant margin of votes over rivals and the short duration of the presidential election dispute hearings in the MK, which is no more than 14 days.
Prabowo's claim to victory has been evident since survey agencies released quick count results. His priority programs have even been included in the discussion and planning of the 2025 State Budget (APBN) by the current government. Prabowo and Gibran are eager to implement their priority programs immediately, including providing free lunch for school and Islamic boarding school students, a pledge echoed during the campaign. Rivals and the public alike challenged it.
When journalists asked Gibran about the new administration's first 100 days' agenda, Gibran confirmed that the free lunch program is indeed one of them, while other programs will be discussed further. However, Drajad Wibowo, a Member of the Expert Council of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team, stated that eight priority programs will be promptly executed. "Eight quick wins programs, those will be implemented first," he stated on Mar. 20.
Quoted from the vision-mission document of Prabowo-Gibran, the eight quick wins programs include providing free lunch and milk for school children and Islamic boarding school students; conducting free health check-ups; eradicating tuberculosis and establishing hospitals in every regency; increasing agricultural land productivity with village and regional and national food barns; constructing excellent schools in each regency and renovating schools.
There are also programs to continue and expand social welfare cards and business cards to eliminate absolute poverty, increase civil servant salaries, continue rural infrastructure development, provide direct cash assistance, ensure the provision of affordable and healthy housing, establish the State Revenue Agency, and increase the state revenue-to-gross domestic product ratio.
