Sea Group and BNI Potentially Share Ownership of Digital Bank Hibank

Acquisition
Summary

Technology conglomerate Sea Group, which runs Seabank, is reportedly in talks to acquire PT Bank Hibank Indonesia shares, currently owned by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI. Royke Tumilaar, BNI President Director, confirmed the possibility of Sea Group purchasing Hibank shares but emphasized that BNI would retain its position as the majority shareholder. "There are no plans for a merger between Hibank and Seabank," he stated.

David Pirzada, BNI's Risk Management Director, disclosed that Sea Group has been a technology provider for Hibank, indicating the potential for Sea Group to become a shareholder. However, this depends on Sea Group's assessment of Hibank's prospects. Novita Widya Anggraini, BNI's Finance Director, highlighted Hibank's impressive 94 percent year-on-year growth in micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) loans.
