Indonesia Aims High for Game Industry Development Through New Rule

The Indonesian government has issued Presidential Regulation No. 19/2024 on Accelerating the Development of the National Game Industry. Nia Niscaya, Chief Expert of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, emphasized that the regulation, released on Feb 12, aims to address the vast potential of the national game industry, given that most products in the market are currently foreign-made. "The objective of this regulation is to optimize the gaming business ecosystem, especially considering its significant potential," she stated on Feb 19.
Robinson Sinaga, Director of Regulation at the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, outlined the eight main points covered in the regulation. These points include research and development, educational initiatives, funding and financing facilities, infrastructure provision, marketing system development, incentive provision, intellectual property facilitation, and creative output protection. "It's anticipated that these eight provisions will propel the gaming industry to grow rapidly," he added.
