Antam to Work on New Nickel Mining Blocks Amid Global Gloomy Prospect

PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, also known as Antam, emerges victorious in the bidding for the Lililef Sawai, Weda, and Marimoi I nickel mining blocks in Halmahera, North Maluku. These two blocks are part of the nine Mining Business License Areas (WIUP) for metallic minerals and coal resulting from the re-auction of waves I and II in 2023. "The Energy and Mineral Resources Minister has determined the winning bids for the nine WIUP blocks," Agus Cahyono Adi, the spokesperson for the Energy Ministry, stated on Feb 13.

According to Agus, the auction attracted 130 participants who submitted the required documents for 19 WIUP blocks. Out of these, only nine blocks secured operators. "The auction for ten WIUP blocks was declared unsuccessful due to various issues such as no participants meeting prequalification requirements or only one participant passing prequalification, among other issues," Agus explained.

6. Kaf Block (nickel): PT Mineral Jaya Molagina
7. Merapi Barat Block (coal): PT Merapi Energy Coal
8. Foli Block (nickel): PT Wasile Jaya Lestari
9. Lililef Sawai Block (nickel): PT Aneka Tambang Tbk.
