Summary

Starlink, the satellite operator under SpaceX, is seeking approval to become an Internet Service Provider (ISP) through the government's Online Single Submission (OSS) platform. Wayan Toni Supriyanto, the Communications and Information Technology Ministry's Director General of Post and Informatics Management, stated that Starlink will be granted the opportunity to undergo the Operational Feasibility Test (ULO) if it meets the requirements outlined in the OSS. "Currently, PT Starlink Services Indonesia seeks to obtain permits for VSAT and ISP operations," he informed BisnisTekno on Feb 9.

Separately, the Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Pandjaitan revealed that Starlink has plans to enter the Nusantara Capital City (IKN Nusantara). He mentioned that the completion of Starlink's investment requirements for IKN Nusantara is imminent, awaiting the issuance of the operational feasibility test from the Communications and Information Technology Ministry. "Once the operational feasibility test is granted, they can come to Indonesia five days later," Luhut stated. He also conveyed that President Joko Widodo proposed opening Starlink operations in IKN Nusantara, which could benefit the public facilities near the new capital city in the future.
