PLN to Develop Hijaunesia Project Amid Lack of Funding Commitment
PT PLN Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN, is set to execute the Hijaunesia project, a green energy development with a capacity of 1.06 gigawatts in 2024. The Hijaunesia project will span 108 locations throughout Indonesia. Bernadus Sudarmanta, PLN Indonesia Power Director of Business Development and Trading, disclosed plans to construct a 1 gigawatt solar power plant and a 60 megawatt wind turbine.
Sudarmanta stated that the solar power plant construction is expected to reach 500 megawatts in five locations by the end of 2024. "This includes three floating-base solar power plants and two land-based ones. The rest are in progress," he remarked on Jan 30. The three floating solar power plants mentioned are the 100-megawatt Jatigede Dam Solar Power Plant, the 100-megawatt Gajah Mungkur Solar Power Plant, and the 100-megawatt Kedung Ombo Solar Power Plant. Sudarmanta mentioned that the funding for these solar power plants comes from various lenders, including members of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).
