Nusantara Ring Corridor: RI’ Strategy to Create New Economic Hubs

The Indonesian government is set to establish the Nusantara Ring Corridor, poised to become the new engine for national economic growth. This corridor will consist of industrial zones in the northern part of Java, southern Sumatra, South Sulawesi, and East Kalimantan. Airlangga Hartarto, the Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister, emphasized the significant value of the northern Java region for Indonesia, given the presence of several large industrial zones. "The northern Java region serves as an economic corridor equipped with toll roads, ensuring efficient logistics," he stated on Jan 24.
Airlangga highlighted the southern part of Sumatra and Sulawesi as areas experiencing rapid economic growth. On the other hand, the government is concurrently developing the Nusantara Capital City (IKN Nusantara) in East Kalimantan, surrounded by a new economic corridor in the southern and western parts of Kalimantan. "By connecting all these economic corridors, the Nusantara Ring will take shape. With its shallow waters and low waves, the Java Sea will act as a connecting link for logistics within the Nusantara Ring," he added.
