RI Expects Enhanced Oil Recovery Results from Rokan Block Drilling

Oil contract
Summary

The Indonesian government eagerly awaits the results of exploring several oil and gas wells in the Rokan Block, Riau. Rikky Rahmat Firdaus, the Head of the Representative Office of the Upstream Oil and Gas Special Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas) in Northern Sumatra, revealed that there were initially 528 well drillings, capable of producing 191 thousand barrels of oil per day, equivalent to 30 percent of the national production.

Not stopping there, Rikky added that there will be drilling for seven infill wells to boost oil production from the Rokan Block further. Five wells will be located in Rokan Hilir Regency, directed to the Batang Gathering Station (GS Batang), and two wells will be situated in Lindai Regency, directed to the GS Lindai. With a production contribution of 30 percent to the national oil output, Riau emerges as one of the major contributors to the Indonesian oil and gas industry. "Riau's regional companies have secured a ten percent participating interest in the Siak Block, Kampar Block, and Rokan Block," he said on Jan 20.
