RI Plans to Build Gas Interconnection Pipeline from Aceh to Java

The Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry is planning the development of a natural gas transmission pipeline interconnection from Aceh to Java. Tutuka Ariadji, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry's Director General of Oil and Gas, stated that they are integrating gas pipelines throughout Sumatra and the Sumatra-Java corridor. This initiative follows numerous giant gas discoveries in areas such as Andaman and the Agung Block in Bali and Lombok.
According to Tutuka, the Indonesian government recognizes the immense gas potential stretching from Sumatra to Bali, including the Makassar Strait managed by Eni Spa. "Therefore, the government is making significant efforts to connect the gas pipeline from Aceh to East Java," he said on Jan 16. The construction of the natural gas transmission pipeline is part of the National Strategic Project (PSN) mandated by Presidential Regulation No. 109/2020 concerning the PSN.
