Tiktok Opts to Distant from Election Process, Focus on Neutral Stance

Short video app TikTok has limited the usage of accounts belonging to the government, politicians, and political parties to campaign during the 2024 General Election process. The attempts are designed to maintain the app’s neutral stance and prevent the app from being used to spread hoaxes and disinformation.

TikTok Indonesia Public Policy and Government Relations Officer Faris Mufid said the app would still allow political advertising on the platform.

“As for other forms of content, they must obey the community guidelines first to be able to mingle with everyone here.”
