RI Raises Incentive to Fight Electric Motorcycle Demand Slowdown
The Indonesian government has increased the incentive for converting oil-fueled motorcycles into electric ones from Rp 7 million to Rp 10 million per unit. This fresh policy is outlined in Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 13/2023 concerning the General Guidelines for Government Assistance in the Program of Converting Motorcycles with Internal Combustion Engines into Battery-based Electric Motorcycles, issued on Dec 15.
The rationale behind this regulation stipulates the incentive hike to expedite the achievement of the motorcycle conversion program's targets. This regulation encompasses an expanded scope of government assistance, engine cubic capacity, and additional deductions in conversion costs.
The Indonesian government has designated electric motor conversion aid recipients, including individuals, community groups, and government or non-governmental institutions receiving support through conversion workshops. In previous regulations, assistance recipients were limited to individuals only.
