Pertamina Unearths New Oil and Gas Source in West Java
PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Regional Java, an upstream subholding of Pertamina, has discovered two new sources of oil and natural gas from drilling two exploration wells in West Java. These wells are the East Akasia Cinta (EAC)-001 in the PEP Jatibarang Field, Indramayu Regency, and the East Pondok Aren (EPN)-001 Well in the PEP Tambun Field, Bekasi Regency.
During the Drill Stem Test (DST) conducted at the EAC-001 Well, Pertamina obtained an oil flow rate of 30 barrels per day (BOPD), with gas reaching 2.08 million metric cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) and condensate equivalent to 15.05 barrels per day (BCPD). Meanwhile, the drilling by PEP at the Tambun field in the East Pondok Aren (EPN)-001 Exploration Well on Aug 18 yielded an oil flow of 402 BOPD and a gas rate of 1.09 MMSCFD.
Wisnu Hindadari, the CEO of PEP, stated that the company remains committed to driving exploration drilling in its operational areas to ensure the Regional Java's Reserve to Production Ratio stays robust in the upcoming years. "EAC-001 and EPN-001 are exploration wells that can strengthen the optimism in the search for new resources in mature areas to sustain oil and gas production support in the coming years," he said on Dec 14.
