Indonesia’ Aquaculture Firm eFishery flexes Business muscles to India

Startup unicorn eFishery completes commercial trials in India and sets sights on expansion across five Indian states in 2024. Gibran Huzaifah, Co-Founder of eFishery, emphasizes India's pivotal role in their business growth strategy. He highlights that fish farmers in India experience an average income boost of two to three times. "We recognize the potential and value of India's aquaculture industry, which resembles Indonesia, dominated by small and medium-scale farmers," he stated on Dec 14.
eFishery commenced operations in Andhra Pradesh in India, contributing 35 percent to India's total aquaculture production. In this region, they have onboarded 50 local employees. Gibran said eFishery's expansion in India aligns with their business development approach of 'one country at a time.' "The aim is to create periodic and sustainable impact," he added. According to Gibran, small and medium-scale farmers in India encounter challenges such as limited market access, inconsistent pricing schemes, delayed payments, and a lack of information and technology.
