Massive Hydrogen Peroxide Plant: What to Expect

PT Sumber Global Energy Tbk (SGER) is set to construct a hydrogen peroxide plant through its subsidiary, PT Hidrogen Peroxida Indonesia (HPI). This coal mining company's facility will be established in Merak, Banten. In this venture, HPI will collaborate with PT Sulfindo Adiusaha, holding a 45 percent ownership stake. The plant will boast a production capacity of 20,000 metric tons (at 100 percent concentration) or 40,000 metric tons (at 50 percent concentration) annually.

According to Sumber Global Energy Chief Executive Officer Welly Thomas, this plant construction aims to meet Indonesia's demand for hydrogen peroxide, which reached 40,000 metric tons (at 50 percent concentration) in imports during 2023. "With the operationalization of SGER's hydrogen peroxide plant, we aim to significantly increase our revenue contributions from the mining, chemical, and textile sectors," Welly said on Dec 12.
