New OJK, LPS Supervisory Agencies Formed, amid Questioned Objectivity

In a move indicative of strategic financial oversight, the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has concurred on appointing nine members to the Financial Services Authority Supervisory Board (BS OJK) for 2023-2028. Amir Uskara, the Vice-Chairman of the House’s Commission XI, announced the members as Agustinus Prasentyantoko, Edhie Purnawan, Difi Johansyah, Sidharta Utama, Mohammad Jufrin, Hernawan Bekti, Didid Noordiatmoko, Tito Sulistio, and Candra Fajri Ananda.

According to Amir, the House’s Commission XI conducted an internal meeting to verify the candidates for the supervisory board. The selection committee identified 44 applicants and approved 38 for further evaluation in the fit and proper test. This selection process culminated in an internal meeting on Nov 28, resulting in the finalization of the nine supervisory board members. These appointments were officially ratified in a full assembly of the House on Tuesday.

The House also ratified the appointment of seven members for the Deposit Insurance Corporation Supervisory Board (BS LPS). Amir Uskara confirmed that this selection aligns with the mandates of the Banking System Development and Strengthening Law (UU PPSK). The approved members of the Deposit Insurance Corporation Supervisory Board are Farid Azhar Nasution, A.P.A Timo Pangerang, Agung Ardhianto, Suhaji Lestiadi, Eko Kusnadi, Tauhid Ahmad, and Peni Hirjanto.
