Govt Decides to Continue 4G BTS Project Under Multiple Supervision

The Indonesian government will continue the 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) service contract for the underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T). The Communications and Information Technology Minister Budi Arie Setiadi said this plan aligns with President Joko Widodo's directive during the submission of the budget implementation list (DIPA) for the Communications Ministry for the 2024 fiscal year. "The focus is on results and maximizing benefits for the people," he stated on Dec 1.
The signed operation and maintenance contract is an agreement to continue operating the 4G BTS, which has been built and is an asset of the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI). According to BAKTI's President Director Fadhilah Mathar, serving the community is a top priority, so residents of the 3T areas can utilize telecommunication access. "The legal enforcement by the Attorney General's Office regarding the 4G BTS Project does not end in the judicial process, but aims for digital inclusion of communities in the 3T villages," he said.
