PLN Gears Up to Use COP28 as Investment Hunting Ground

PT PLN (Persero), Indonesia's state electricity company, is set to sign 13 energy transition collaborations at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP) 28th session in Dubai, scheduled from Nov 30 to Dec 12. PLN CEO Darmawan Prasodjo said these partnerships will bolster efforts to accelerate the energy transition in Indonesia. "This is a global climate change issue, a global challenge, and a global problem. It cannot be addressed locally; it requires a global response," he stated Thursday.
COP28 will bring together world leaders as part of the UNFCCC, an international body addressing climate change. Participants will discuss various solutions to combat climate change. Alongside signing bilateral agreements for energy transition, PLN will also host and co-host several side events at COP28, engaging in discussions on topics such as accelerating the energy transition, reducing fossil fuel usage through dedieselization, financing green energy through the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), the ASEAN Power Grid, Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) programs, and the carbon market.
