RI’ Greenhouse Gas Emission Remains Low Despite Stark Contrast

The Indonesian government claims its per capita greenhouse gas emissions are among the lowest in the G20 nations. According to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Indonesia's emissions are lower than those of the United Kingdom, the United States, and China. "Indonesia has the lowest per capita emissions. Among the G20, we are only higher than India and Brazil," she stated during the 'Climate Change and Indonesia's Future: An Intergenerational Dialogue' on Monday.
Indonesia's per capita emissions stand at 2.6 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e), below the global average of 4.8 tons CO2e. Consequently, Sri Mulyani emphasized the government's focus on robust decarbonization policies to achieve the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and Net Zero Emissions (NZE) agenda. "This includes fostering productive cooperation and discussions worldwide, bridging markets between developed and developing countries to achieve a common goal," she said.
