Arkora’ Micro Hidro Projects Mark Astra Renewables Solid Ambition

PT Arkora Hydro Tbk (ARKO), a subsidiary of PT Astra International Tbk (ASII), is set to develop two micro-hydro power plants (PLTMH). Arkora Hydro President Director Aldo Artoko said a budget of Rp 430 billion has been allocated for the construction of the Kukusan micro-hydro power plant (PLTMH Kukusan) in Lampung and the Yaentu micro-hydro power plant (PLTMH Yaentu) in Poso, Central Sulawesi. The PLTMH Yaentu has a capacity of 10 megawatts, and the PLTMH Kukusan has 5.4 megawatts. "The PLTMH Yaentu requires a capital expenditure of Rp 255 billion, and the PLTMH Kukusan needs Rp 175 billion," he said on Sunday.
Both projects are financed using ARKO's cash reserves and long-term financing from Indonesia Infrastructure Finance. According to Aldo, the PLTMH Yaentu, which will be operational in the second quarter of 2024, is expected to contribute 29.7 gigawatt-hours (GWh) to ARKO's total PLTMH production. In subsequent years, the annual production is estimated to be 61.3 GWh. Meanwhile, the PLTMH Kukusan will commence commercial operations in the third quarter of 2023 and contribute a production capacity of 33 GWh per year.
