TikTok Investment Discussion with Tokopedia Still Sees No Light

TikTok's management is reportedly lobbying several local e-commerce platforms to resume operations of TikTok Shop. As reported by Deal Street Asia on Tuesday, TikTok is discussing partnership and investment opportunities with Tokopedia, an e-commerce platform under the GoTo group. However, neither GoTo's management nor TikTok's representatives have responded to these reports.

Trade Ministry's Director of Electronic Systems and Service Trade Rifan Ardianto stated that TikTok has not yet applied for an e-commerce business license."We have not received any application in the form of an Electronic System Trade Business License (SIUPMSE) from TikTok," he said, as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia on Nov 20. Meanwhile, Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry's Deputy for Financing and Investment of Small and Medium Enterprises Temmy Satya Permana said TikTok plans to partner with local e-commerce to continue TikTok Shop.
