Govt to Kickstart CIPP JETP Program Despite Fragile Commitment

In a significant move toward renewable energy, the government unveiled a comprehensive investment and policy plan (CIPP) for the Just Energy Transition Partnership program on Nov 21. Head of Indonesia's JETP Secretariat Edo Mahendra said the CIPP document outlines a strategic roadmap for an ambitious energy transition, requiring an investment of US$97.3 billion, which is quintuple the funding of the JETP's US$20 billion.
According to Edo, this investment will be channeled into developing Indonesia's low-carbon economy sector, including financing energy efficiency projects and the electrification of the power sector. Before finalizing the CIPP document, the JETP Secretariat has engaged in various public consultation efforts. "Essentially, the CIPP document is an investment proposal," Edo explained. "It contains a roadmap for JETP investment, analyzing various scenarios and prioritizing funding needs."
