RI to Launch Core Tax System with Tag Location Next Year, What is it?

The Finance Ministry’s Directorate General of Taxation is set to launch an advanced taxation system, named the core tax system, on Jul 1, 2024. Senior Tax Advisor of the Directorate General of Taxation in Banten, Dedi Kusnadi, said the plan had been postponed, as the initial launch was intended for Jan 1, 2024. “Coinciding with the presidential election, God willing, the launch is set for Jul 1, 2024,” Dedi said during a radio talk show, as Kontan quoted on Nov 20.
Dedi expressed concerns that launching the core tax system on Jan 1, 2024, might disrupt data and systems during the presidential election. “This is to anticipate potential chaos or system breakdowns,” he explained. Presidential Regulation No. 40/2028 on Tax Administration System Reform mandates the core tax system. According to Dedi, the core tax system prepares 21 business processes, while taxpayers must familiarize themselves with five processes, including registration.
