Bali LRT: A Preview of Upcoming Project Plans

LRT
Summary

The Indonesian government is planning to kickstart the construction of a Bali light rail transit (LRT) system in 2024. The project aims to reduce private vehicle usage and accommodate the growing number of tourists arriving in Bali, particularly at Ngurah Rai Airport.

The Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa explains the initial phase will connect Ngurah Rai Airport to Seminyak with a 9.4-kilometer track. Construction is set to begin in early 2024, with a three-year completion target. Subsequent phases will expand the network to cover Seminyak-Canggu and Canggu-Mengwi. “In the future, it will span across Bali,” he said on Oct 11.
