Khofifah Waits for Signal Before Joining Any President Candidate Camp

East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa has been busy meeting with politicians from multiple parties lately. They have sought Khofifah’s agreement to join their camps, directly or indirectly.

Her position became important since two presidential candidate camps, Ganjar Pranowo and Prabowo Subianto, considered her a vote booster who could deliver victory in East Java Province, which currently hosts 31,402.8 eligible voters. Her position as a governor, an East Java and NU native, and chairwoman of Muslimat NU, with 32 million members in 32 provinces, would typically become a massive voter magnet in the upcoming elections.

Up to this date, Khofifah still does not make her choices. To some, she answered that her spiritual gurus still want her to remain in the gubernatorial seat. To others, Khofifah acknowledged that she would still need time to calculate her next political moves.
