North Bali Offers Giant Oil and Gas Potential

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has revealed a huge potential for gas resources in the northern waters of Bali Island. Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy Tutuka Ariadji said the gas potential in the area reaches 4-5 trillion cubic feet (Tcf). He said North Bali's gas content is almost the same as the North Ganal Block worked on by Eni and the Andaman II Block managed by Harbour Energy.
According to Tutuka, the estimated potential in the waters north of Bali comes from an old study conducted by the Center for Oil and Natural Gas Testing (BBPMG) of the Research and Development Center for Oil and Gas (Lemigas) and British oil and gas company British Petroleum (BP). "In our opinion, the potential must be drilled as well. Right now, the seismic model must be drilled, but there is potential for traps scientifically. The potential is also not small," he said Thursday.
