Indonesia’s Parliament Approved: Key Changes in New Capital City Law
Indonesia’s parliament (DPR) approved the revision of Law No. 3/2022 concerning the State Capital City (IKN Law) on Tuesday. The revised regulation, as explained by the Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa, will serve as the legal foundation to facilitate the processes of preparation, development, and relocation of the State Capital City. He also highlighted that it includes the administration of the Special Capital Region of the Archipelago.
This revision of the IKN Law received approval from seven out of eight political party factions, namely the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, Golkar, Gerindra, Nasional Demokrat (NasDem), the National Awakening Party (PKB), the United Development Party (PPP), and the National Mandate Party (PAN). The Democratic Party approved it with notes, while rejection came from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
