Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka has come public that he has reported the Gerindra Party’s offer to name him as Prabowo’s running pair for the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election to the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) leadership. Gibran said that he would obey PDI-P Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri’s further instructions.

Beforehand, Puan Maharani said that on this matter, it would be up to Gibran himself whether he would respond to the offer or not.

Despite the waiting, to date, hundreds of banners containing pictures of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka were spotted in many regions, indicating that Prabowo meant business and also signaling Gibran’s approval.

The only constraint is waiting for the Constitutional Court to grant the favor of some plaintiffs who had earlier asked the court to change the minimum age requirement to apply for the president and vice-president seats from the existing 40 years old to 35 years old.
