Perta Arun Gas, S’pore Investor to Build Asia’ First Blue Ammonia Hub

Summary

PT Perta Arun Gas, a subsidiary of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) Tbk, has signed a Development Cooperation Agreement (DCA) with Singapore-based Asian Energy Capital Pte Ltd. The partnership consists of the construction, development, and operation of a blue ammonia processing facility that is located in the Special Economic Region of Lhokseumawe in Aceh.

The cooperation is part of Perta Arun Gas’ plan to become a world-class regasification and LNG hub. Perta Arun Gas President Director Bara Ilmarosa said the blue ammonia production capacity from the future factory would produce 600,000 tons of blue ammonia per annum.

“The blue ammonia development will be the first in Asia on a massive scale, and the facility will be supported by a local carbon capture and storage [CCS] that uses the Arun reservoir,” Bara said on Thursday.
