Pertamina Unveils New Production Scheme for Masela Block

PT Pertamina's CEO Nicke Widyawati underlined that the forthcoming liquefied natural gas (LNG) production scheme within the Masela Block will embrace the various aspirations of the collaborating operators.
A noteworthy facet of this strategy involves the incorporation of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology within the onshore region of the Masela Block.
Furthermore, the Masela Block is set to incorporate a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU). Nicke has lauded this scheme as both swift and efficient. The approach will involve specialized vessels for transiting and transferring offshore-extracted gas to the onshore LNG facility.
The addition of CCUS technology within the Masela Block aligns with the government's energy transition program, ultimately resulting in a more environmentally friendly gas product.
"The government has issued a new regulation in February where gas processing must carry out CCUS to produce blue energy," Nicke said at a hearing with the House Energy Commission on Wednesday.
