Summary

A US-based food and beverage company, PepsiCo, commenced factory construction in Cikarang, West Java, on Wednesday, thus marking PepsiCo’s comeback to Indonesia after ending its partnership with its local partner in 2021. The factory is part of PepsiCo’s investment commitment of US$200 million for ten years and will start producing F&B products in 2025.

PepsiCo’s Asia Business Unit Chief Executive Officer Parinya Kitjatanapan said that the construction of this first manufacturing facility was aimed at tapping into the large market in Indonesia. “As much as 48 percent of Asia’s population is here, so we don’t want to miss this opportunity,” Kitjatanapan said.

Meanwhile, PepsiCo Indonesia CEO Asif Mobin said that the factory would produce F&B products for both the domestic market and export to countries under the halal principle.

“This is just the beginning, this is the first time we have made a direct investment in Indonesia, and in the future, we will have other products,” he said.
