PropertyGuru Closes Rumah.com in November: Home Sweet Gone

PropertyGuru has announced the shutdown of the Rumah.com property marketplace platform effective from Nov 30, 2023.

PropertyGuru’s Chief Executive Officer Hari Krishnan said that 61 employees of Rumah.com were laid off. “This decision was not easy for us, and we understand the impact it will have on our employees and customers,” Krishnan said on Monday.

Krishnan said Rumah.com would refund the fees that had been paid by the agents and partners according to their contracts. Debts to vendor partners were also guaranteed to be paid under contractual obligations.

PropertyGuru also closed FastKey, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) product, in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore in July-October 2024. He claimed that the closure of the two business units did not have a significant impact on PropertyGuru’s financial performance.
