Additional Subsidy to Drive Conversion to Electric Motorcycles
The government potentially increases subsidies for electric motorcycles converted from gasoline-fueled ones.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan said that President Joko Widodo is advocating for additional subsidies in the Jakarta area, which is currently grappling with air pollution issues.
"The president is striving for more incentives if feasible," Luhut said on Friday.
Following a meeting at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil unveiled that there has been a discussion about raising the subsidy value for electric motorbike conversion from Rp 7 million to Rp 10 million per unit.
To facilitate this, an amendment to Energy Minister Regulation No. 3/2023 on the General Guidelines for Government Assistance in the Conversion Program of Motorbikes with Fuel Motor Drivers to Battery-Based Electric Motorbikes is deemed necessary.
