WSBP Fights for Survival Amid Bankruptcy and Layoffs
PT Waskita Beton Precast Tbk (WSBP) plans to lay off 600 employees this year as a cost-saving measure. According to WSBP Director Asep Kurnia, the company’s workforce will be reduced from 2,000 to 1,400 people. He said that 510 employees have already been terminated. “We are doing everything we can to ensure WSBP’s sustainability,” he said Tuesday.
To support the company’s performance, Asep said that WSBP’s management would optimize the use of the remaining employees. The company will enhance the skills and abilities of its staff to increase their productivity.
Moreover, WSBP will conduct evaluations to match the workforce capacity with the required competencies. Asep hopes that the company can achieve better results by improving the employees’ competence.
