Govt to Expand Electric Motorcycle Subsidy to All NIK Holders

The government has planned to expand the subsidy for buying battery-based electric motorbikes available to the public, instead of only specific groups of people.
“In the future, it will be opened to the public,” Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said on Monday.
Bahlil said, a meeting at the Presidential Palace led by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, on Monday, decided that the criteria and procedures for applying for the subsidy would be simplified, and that the subsidy would be based on the Population Identification Number (NIK).
“We are considering one electric motorbike per NIK,” Bahlil said. He added that this was done because the demand for the subsidy was low. The government hopes that more people will be interested in buying electric motorbikes with easier terms.
