PLN Subsidiaries to Build Solar Farm on Gajah Mungkur Dam

Summary

PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) assigned subsidiaries PLN Indonesia Power and PLN Nusantara Power to work on two floating solar power plant (PLTS) projects in Java.

Both companies will develop one plant on the Gajah Mungkur Dam, Wonogiri, Central Java, and the Karangkates Dam, Malang, East Java. PLN expects both plants, with a total capacity of 200-megawatt peak (MWp), to be operational by 2025.

PLN director of transmission and system planning Evy Haryadi revealed that the subsidiaries are open to any potential partnership. "We are currently preparing for the tender," he said.

In the meantime, PLN has already asked PLN Indonesia Power and PLN Nusantara Power to carry out pre-construction preparations and meet the regulatory requirements before both projects start.
