United Tractors Bids Farewell to Coal Mining

PT United Tractors Tbk (UNTR) has announced its plan to exit the coal business. The subsidiary of PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) will follow the timeline of its mining concession permit to phase out this operation.

According to United Tractors Director Iwan Hadiantoro, the company will not make a sudden shift. He said that coal is still a vital source of market demand and company cash.

In line with its business strategy, United Tractors will not sell off its coal assets. “We will continue the coal production until the concession ends. We will not renew it after that,” Iwan said.
