Summary

GDS IDC Service, a Hong Kong-based company, is constructing the largest data center in Batam, located in the Nongsa Digital Park Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The data center will have a tier 3 standard and a 40 Megawatt (MW) capacity, which will be developed in two phases.

“The data center covers an area of 28,730 square meters and involves an investment commitment of Rp 4 trillion from PT GDS IDC Service,” Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso said during his visit to the Nongsa Digital Park SEZ, recently.

The government ensures that the area will have sufficient electricity and water supply to support the investment of the world’s largest data center in the Nongsa Digital Park SEZ. The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Batam Management Agency (BP), and PLN Batam have discussed this issue. They aim to make the Nongsa Digital Park SEZ competitive with other countries’ facilities.
