Japanese consumer finance group Orient Corp (Orico) will expand its services to Indonesia.

Nikkei reported on Tuesday that Orico is eyeing shares in Honest Financial Technologies International, a fintech that runs a virtual credit card business in Indonesia, for an undisclosed fee.

However, Orient Corp is set to operate a virtual credit card business and issue physical credit cards with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in Indonesia this year.

The AI will be deployed to quickly check and verify customer data, allowing for a simple and cheaper card issuance process.
