GoTo, Electrum Aim to Dominate Local Electric Motorcycle Market

Electrum, a joint venture company between PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) and PT TBS Energi Utama Tbk (TOBA), is building an electric motorcycle factory in Cikarang, West Java.

Electrum President Director Pandu Sjahrir stated that this factory was proof of Electrum’s readiness to develop an electric vehicle ecosystem. “This is also in line with Indonesia’s net-zero emissions goal of 2060,” Pandu said on Friday.

The GIIC Cikarang factory is situated on a three-hectare land, with production capacity up to 250,000 units per line in the initial stage. The factory will also have a quality testing laboratory, a research and development center, and a testing track.

To support the environmentally friendly concept, this factory is equipped with an energy management system, a waste management system, and water treatment. The factory construction will be completed in mid-2024 and start production in the same year.
