DAMRI, PPD Merger to Streamline Land Transportation Services
The government merged the Perusahaan Umum Pengangkutan Penumpang Djakarta (Perum PPD) with Djawatan Angkutan Motor Republik Indonesia (Perum DAMRI).
This merger is outlined in Government Regulation No. 30/2023, signed by President Joko Widodo on Jun 6, 2023. As a result, DAMRI becomes the sole state-owned road transportation company.
Deputy Second Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said the merger between DAMRI and PPD was initiated by Minister Erick Thohir.
The objective of this merger is to enhance performance, allowing the company to strengthen its presence and expand its network, thus improving national transportation connectivity. "Additionally, it aims to generate added value and ensure the sustainability of state-owned enterprises," Kartika said on Monday.
