Tynergy’ US$140 Mln Plant to Boost RI’ Role in Semiconductor Industry
Mirah Green's subsidiary PT Tynergy Technology Group (Tynergy) plans to build a US$140-million semiconductor plant in Batam, Riau Islands.
Tynergy director Khadafi Yahya was confident about the factory's positive contribution to Indonesia's energy transition efforts. "This silica smelter will produce raw materials for semiconductor and solar panel productions," he said in a written statement.
Situated in Wiraraja Industrial Park, the plant will be the first integrated silica processing facility for Indonesia's semiconductor industry.
Global demand for Indonesian silica sand, which is used in solar panel production, has soared in the last two years. China's demand for sand has been particularly high due to the high levels of silica content of up to 99.5 percent.
