Summary

Rize, an agri-tech startup that aims to decarbonize rice cultivation in Southeast Asia, has been launched by Wavemaker Impact, Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV), GenZero, and Temasek.

Chief Executive Officer Dhruv Sawhney leads the startup and has Indonesia and Vietnam as its first markets, according to a report by Technode Global.

Rize is developing a platform that can rapidly identify and implement the best practices for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in rice farming.

The startup also offers economic incentives to encourage farmers to adopt sustainable techniques. Rize Wavemaker Impact board member Marie Cheong said the startup had achieved promising traction, with “more than 2,000 hectares of paddy fields registered for trials.”
