SHA Solo to Meet Industrial Fuel Needs in Eastern Indonesia
Surakarta-based fuel distribution company PT SHA Solo is expanding its services to Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua. SHA Solo marketing director Aris Nuryanto revealed the company's plan to add one new tanker with a capacity of 1,000 kiloliters to support the expansion and specifically serve consumers from the mining sector.
"The mining sector supports a sizeable percentage of [Indonesia's] foreign exchange, so we focus on expanding business [in the eastern region]," he said in Surakarta last week.
The expansion is the company's response to the slowdown in the fuel distribution business in Central Java. The decrease in fuel demand is apparent in all industries, except for the electricity sector, thanks to the operation of new coal-fired power plants in Jepara, Batang, and Cirebon.
"The market potential for fuel distribution by road is still not encouraging. It's only supported by the electricity sector so that we can survive," Aris elaborated.
