South Sulawesi to Subsidize Air Tickets to Boost Air Transport
South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman launched Susi Air's inaugural flight from Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar to Andi Djemma Masamba Airport in North Luwu. The flight is part of a ticket subsidy program that aims to improve the connectivity and accessibility of remote areas in the province.
The South Sulawesi Government has set aside Rp 20 billion to subsidize the tickets for five flight routes operated by Susi Air. "The subsidy will lower the transportation costs and enable the easier movement of people, goods, and services across the regions," Andi Sudirman stated.
Besides the Makassar-Masamba route, which flies twice a week, Susi Air also offers flights from Masamba to Sorowako (twice a week), from Makassar to Bone (three times a week), from Makassar to Selayar (twice a week), and from Bone to Kendari (three times a week).
