Pasuruan Industrial Estate Welcomes South Korean Cigar Company
The largest industrial area in East Java, Pasuruan Industrial Estate Rembang (PIER), welcomes South Korean investors through PT Cell Corp Indonesia, which is engaged in the cigarette industry.
Cell Corp plans to build a cigarette factory sitting on a 10,000-square-meter area with a total investment of US$5.5 million or around Rp 81 billion. Cell Corp and PIER operator PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (SIER) signed an Industrial Land Use Agreement in Surabaya on Monday.
"We chose SIER because of its good access, complete utility availability, and also to get close to our company's target market," PT Cell Corp Indonesia president director Yoo Jae Ho said, as quoted from the SIER press release.
According to SIER marketing and development director Silvester Budi Agung, Cell Corp is engaged in the wholesale trade of cigarettes and tobacco, the cigarette seasoning and other accessories industry, and the hand-rolled cigarette industry.
The company plans to employ 30-50 people for its factory at PIER. For the record, there are 48 companies engaged in various industries, such as soaps, cosmetics, food and beverage, electronics, steel, plastic, wood, automotive engine spare parts, to musical instruments, that operate in the industrial estate. About 36 percent of its 563-hectare area is already occupied.
